Wicken Woods 16th August 2017

To escape shopping in Milton Keynes I sped off to the nearest woodland at Wicken Wood, which is dissected by Bucks and Northants county borders. I just stayed inside Bucks when entering the first patch of woodland, mostly young Norwegian Spruce, to find the floor littered with False Saffron Milkcaps Lactarius deterrimus. Not seen before so was a pleasant surprise. Apparently OK to eat, but Saffron Milkcap is the best, or so I have been told, as I DO NOT EAT my own ID's!
