Mount Field, Penhale Dunes, Cornwall - 13th October 2019

A visit to Penhale is always worth looking forward to, this time taking the public path due NE across a meadow, via Willow Carr and mixed woodland produced some interesting species. On this CFRG visit a few surprises came along the way included one of the few green coloured fungi in the UK, this not being Parrot Waxcap, so eventually dawned on us that this could be the unfortunately but aptly named Mousepee Pinkgill, or Entoloma incanum. Not common so to see it here was a surprise and one to note as a local site only no doubt for this species. Lepiota's were in evidence also, although lacked any waxcaps worth a mention here. One bracket found deep in the woodland pathway was Perenniporia ochrolenca, fairly common in Cornwall but elsewhere in the UK very rarely observed. Here are a few of the fungi seen on this visit.
